I introduced two friends last night over skype and the meeting didn’t go as well as I’d hoped. It made me realize how different startup cultures are right for different situations, says JDFI.Asia CEO Hugh Mason

JFDI.Asia’s next 100 day accelerator program starts August and pre-registration is open now.

Great Question. I think the key question is not whether it’s ugly/sucky/embrassing or not. It’s the company’s understanding of ‘minimal’ and ‘viable’ For a B2B, the MV is significantly higher than a B2C product for all the reasons Hugh mentioned (and more.) Another major factor is the price tag to presentation ratio. From the point of view of helping a startup to find its niche and direction, Sucky MVP’s great for marketing validation, but horrible to launch with, I have met a few startupers who uses “Ugly MVP” as a excuse to officially launch a prototype, only to run into the problem Hugh described.
