Overview

Short haul leisure travellers just want to get out of town and don’t care where, as long as it’s cheap. Why do they end up staying home? Because it hurts to search. Travel sites assume you know where you’re going. They’re not built for discovery. Leisure travelers have increasingly more destinations to compare but less time to plan. Would you like to go to Bali next weekend for $80? Not if it takes eight hours to find that ticket.

Flocations has created a revolutionary data visualization interface. We put nearby destinations on an interactive map so you can browse by budget. Now you can scan the alternatives and book next weekend’s getaway in five minutes flat.

This is a classic disruption: current search interfaces are so complex that many potential customers just give up and stay home, when they could be exploring a new country, a new city, for less than $100 a night. Through UI simplicity and UX design we open up a new category of previously non-consuming travelers and expand the booming $21bn Asian online leisure travel segment.

Problem

Flocations helps the $21bn Asian online leisure travel market find plan and discover trips in a new way. This not only benefits current online travellers but also creates a new market of non-travellers that are frustrated by the current search-by-destination interface which has become ubiquitous across online travel agencies for the past 15 years.

While business travellers don’t mind using this antiquated search-by-destination interface, leisure travellers demand more powerful and targeted tools to help them with their myriad of needs: They have multiple destinations to compare, they have less time to plan, they may plan for a family, a quick trip, or a trip with friends. They don’t want to do work. But a search-by-destination interface gives them just that – work.

 

Solution

Our travel visualizer shows nearby destinations on an interactive map, so leisure travelers can browse by budget and book their next getaway in minutes, not hours.

We bring personalisation through our bucket list in which travelers can bookmark future destinations. This improves stickiness and engagement.

Travellers can also engage with a destination through our discovery interface which shows what there is to do in that destination using images, things to do, public events, travel tips, etc.

Flocations helps leisure travellers compare multiple destinations quickly, see the best prices from their origin, share with friends, make decisions quickly and essentially minimize the time spent planning all in one visual interface.

Flocations creates a new travel search paradigm which also brings new users to the online travel market.
