Openhouse

Every week from 2012 to 2017, JFDI hosted a random collection of geeks, entrepreneurs, investors and creatives to eat cheese, share inspiration and change the world. In all more than 10,000 people attended over 300 events that brought a community together where previously there was none.

Beyond countless startup partnerships, the results included two marriages, at least two children and a lot of laughs and insight. We welcomed illustrious technical sages, delegations from countries as diverse as North Korea and Kazakhstan. We hosted demonstrations ranging from salsa to augmented reality.

For a precious few years before the bureaucrats and the professional event organizers closed in, JFDI Open House was the place to connect, test out ideas and share your passion. Now that the startup ecosystem in Singapore has matured there are numerous events, conferences and hangouts hosted by people with more cheese than we could ever muster. So we have decided to hand on the crackers to others. Thank you to everyone who made open house what it was at pivotal points in all our lives. It was a lot of fun.

We’ll just leave you with one takeout: Entrepreneurship will always be difficult, but it doesn’t have to be lonely.
